At this point in the semester, you’ve taken a test or two, completed that first essay, and you know which classes are going to be a struggle. Don’t wait until the end of the semester to worry about your grade; act now! Take advantage of the free tutoring services available through Florida Tech.
You can get help online from tutors with SmarThinking. A link is available at http://lib.fit.edu, under the Services menu. Log-in with your TRACKS, selecting your subject area and submitting your assignment electronically. A tutor will review it and get back with you in about 24 hours. Tutors are available for many subjects: writing, microeconomics, chemistry, physics, accounting, linear algebra and many more. With at least 48 hours notice, you can schedule a live session with a tutor as well.
If you’d like a more traditional approach to your tutoring session, try the Academic Support Center. Located right next to the Evans Library, the Academic Support Center offers one-on-one or group tutoring sessions in many subjects taught here at Florida Tech. The advantage here is working with student tutors who have taken the classes you are taking, often with the same professors. Students must have an A in the courses they are tutoring. If you need help with your writing, you’re in luck. You can schedule a session with a graduate student tutor or a Humanities and Communication faculty member. Appointments are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 321-674-8009 or stop by the Academic Support Center to make an appointment. Walk-in appointments may be available. A link to SmarThinking is also available on the Academic Support Center website. Doing well in your classes? Consider becoming a tutor. Contact Academic Support for opportunities.
